Some of the very first Tweets to/from me in 2007 via oldtweets

Just spotted this oldtweets project which is collecting all the Tweets from the first year of Twitter. I did the usual vanity search and spotted something very interesting – we hadn’t quite mastered the use of @ in March 2007.

Here’s @conoro

And here’s conoro

And finally, here are my initial words of genius from Feb 26th 2007 onwards. Rest assured they will be treated like the collected works of Joyce in years to come.

If you develop on Twitter APIs in Ireland, you have to attend Dublin Teatime

I attended the first London Twitter Teatime back in October. It was an organisational disaster but an absolute must-not-miss. We were in a big room with not just some key Twitter technical people but also with many of the key third party developers in the UK including the DataSift and PeerIndex guys.

The Q&A session was particularly good with no-one being too shy about asking the hard questions (*cough* Twitter Annotations).

Big congrats to Donal Cahalane and the guys here for announcing Twitter Dublin Teatime. If there is one thing you can be sure of with Donal involved, the event will kick ass.

Given the burst of activity around Twitter here in the past 24 months, there are going to be some amazing people to talk to on the night.

All details over on Web2Ireland.org and sign-up on Twitter. Numbers are limited, and given that London was jammed, I’d sign-up right now if I was you.

See ya there.

The in-betweeners

Like many people, my blogging activities have collapsed. A lot of that is due to work commitment but another large part of it is that I post most quick thoughts and ideas to Twitter or Facebbok.

The problem there is discoverability and conversation threads. Sure someone can find a tweet weeks later but they’ll never be able to reply to it in an intelligible way.

But I still don’t have time to do full blog posts.

So think of this as the iPad of my online presence. It’s for stuff that is too long for Twitter/Facebook (and deserves longevity) but is too short for all my WordPress blogs.

Like my first blogpost in 2001, this may be the last thing I write here for months :-)
